About Rite Guy

Hi there!

It’s me, Laura Stevenson. A brief tour down the winding path that led to Rite Guy Design Studio:

My education began in Ecology, but landed in Industrial Design.
Since then, I've spent over 15 years in the design and fabrication industry in San Francisco. Along the way, I've made props you've seen on billboards and shaped trade show booths to be centerpieces at some of the cities' largest corporate events.  I've designed the interiors of two nightclubs and contributed significant assets to others; my neon art installations hang overhead at some of your favorite cafes and restaurants. I've traveled the US and overseas to set up custom pieces for events ranging from trade shows to immersive vacation experiences.  I trained every day for a year to transform myself into a 'real life' mermaid for a very special fabrication-and-performance project; and once spent a month living on a raft of my own construction while floating 100 miles down a river with a boat-based artist collective. I launched myself off a pier on the back of a cardboard pterodactyl with a 30' wingspan, for the glory of our fabrication team, and lived to tell the tale!

More practically, I’ve helped  a large handful of startups and small businesses get their ideas from napkin sketch to functioning prototype. My designs have helped local businesses adapt to the Covid pandemic with verve and personality, and my neon art installations ‘shine light’ for local businesses and collectors alike.

I established Rite Guy with the intention to support small businesses with my art and design skill set. I work as closely to zero-waste in my Studio as possible, and lighten the environmental impact of my projects through material selection, design approach, and production method. Discounts are applied to some projects based on mission and social values. Everything here is made custom, with love!

Thanks for stopping by : )
